We have added Acoustical Consulting and Sound Design
Services to our list of offerings.
Why acoustical consulting?
Our goal in providing this service is to improve
communications. By modifying the acoustics of a space you can change
it's character completely. For example, you can make a restaurant
feel intimate by making the tables feel "acoustically close", or perhaps
you want it so that diners can hear each other well but at the same time
hear the sounds of the room in a non-intrusive way - not too intimate.
Designing with acoustics can accomplish that.
For sound design the main issue is how to create a
room/sound system combination that allows for "intelligible" sound -
meaning that the words you hear are distinct and easily understandable.
Many facilities ignore the matching of architectural acoustics with the
acoustical needs of the space resulting in acoustical disasters. O
ur
sound system design service is a perfect complement to our acoustic
analysis service. Combining both services together will result in an
acoustically tuned room that has high quality of sound support in just the
locations that need it.
Who can benefit?
Auditoriums, ballrooms, conference rooms, stadiums,
churches, even school gymnasiums are often used to address large numbers
of people. When
attendees have difficulty understanding what they hear their attention
span goes down, and the value of the presentation is lost. Whether it's a
musical performance, seminars or presentations of any kind, good acoustics
and sound design can make a huge difference in the quality of the event.
Audiophiles also may benefit from "acoustic tuning".
Home theatres and recording studios need sound that is live but not overly
reverberant or "bassy". Specialized diffusion surfaces and the right
absorption can make big improvements in the sound. Noise control is another area where acoustical analysis
can help. We will identify exactly which surfaces require noise
control and then make recommendations how to control it.
Sound Design
For new design we
use predictive analysis and modeling to simulate the
room and the sound field. When available we can import industry standard
Autocad© files from an existing architectural plan and use it as the room
model. Positioning virtual sound system components and running an
acoustical simulation allows us to predict the results in advance and
choose the design that works the best. We can also create the room model
ourselves or draw a model manually in order to find the best geometric
match between loudspeakers and sound coverage needs.
Acoustic Analysis
Acoustical analysis benefits existing installations
by measuring if the acoustics meets accepted criteria for intelligibility,
sound quality
or noise limits. The system help identify the best way to adjust the
acoustics. After installations are performed we use the same analysis to
measure how the acoustics have changed and to verify that a sound system
or acoustical design is adequate.
State-of-the-art Technology
The technology we use is called "TEF" or
"time-energy-frequency" analysis. This analyzer works in combination with a
computer and a laser to help identify problem
acoustical surfaces. Whether you need to tune up a recording
studio, a conference room, a home theatre or noise control at an airport
hangar, we can help.
